Casual – Study Support Assistant
Rate of Pay: £14.56 per hour plus 12.07% accrued holiday per total value
Working Hours: Approximately 25 Hours per week
Duration: Approximately 6 months
Main duties & responsibilities:
The department of Student Wellbeing are looking for a Study Support Assistant.
The successful candidate will be able to commit to supporting the student for approximately 25 hours per week, increasing in line with the demands of study.
The Study Support Assistant will play a key role in supporting the students communication with their academic team, and vice versa – breaking down tasks and maintaining motivation.
The role will focus on supporting the student to complete their degree, increasing independent study skills, motivation, time management and organisational skills.
Skills/Qualifications Required:
The successful candidate will have experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and or difficulties. They will understand the complexities of higher education either from their own experiences or from working within the sector.
Excellent communication and time management skills are essential as well as an excellent understanding of the commitment to routine and structure.
It is essential that the successful candidate is able to commit to working the hours required in both taught sessions and independent study sessions.
The hours of work will range from 10am – 5 pm on some days, with opportunities to work later in evenings or weekends where hours permit around deadlines.
Administration and technical experience is required.
A degree or equivalent qualification is required.
The successful candidate must have an understanding of autism /disability – this can be evidence based from past roles.
