Expression of Interest for sessional teaching and marking in the Biomedical Science discipline of the STEM College – School of Health and Biomedical Sciences

  • Based in Bundoora campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University or online.
  • Casual hours commencing as soon as possible
  • In particular, expertise in the following areas will be regarded highly: Biology and Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Neuroscience and Nutrition.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality learning and teaching of the Biomedical Science Discipline.

    About the Role and Your Responsibilities

    The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences aims to provide globally recognised practical, relevant, and innovative programs, research, and industry training.

    The Discipline of Biomedical Science is located on the Bundoora Campus of the University. The Discipline has a proud record of high-quality teaching, research, and community service, and is responsible for the delivery of anatomy, physiology, cell and molecular biology into programs taught by the University. In addition to the teaching, high quality research is conducted in fields relevant to Biomedical science including cell biology, immunology, molecular biology and virology, with staff undertaking quality supervision of students undertaking both research projects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as those undertaking Master and PhD by research.

    To help to support this aim we require passionate casual staff to prepare and deliver teaching and/or marking in the Biomedical Science discipline. We welcome expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to register their interest to teach and/or mark on a casual basis within the Discipline.

    Classes are delivered Monday to Friday at our Bundoora Campus. The volume, nature and availability of sessional teaching will vary based on the needs of the Discipline including course offerings, timetabling and student demand.

    Essential criteria

  • Minimum qualification of Bachelor (Honours)
  • Previous experience with course coordination teaching labs tutorials, lectures and marking within the Biomedical Science discipline.
  • Evidence of teaching ability and the capacity to engage students in an enthusiastic, concise, engaging, and informative manner.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of requisite content for course/s taught within Biomedical Science programs.
  • Demonstrable ability to grade student assessment and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team.
