Sheffield Business School Other £12.50 per hour (£14.00 including holiday pay)

This is a rolling advert and may close earlier than advertised. Once a certain number of applications are received, they will be processed at regular intervals. Please ensure you complete and submit your application as soon as possible for consideration

The Role

We are seeking to employ a casual research associate to support our work in the area of appetite and satiety. Following a successful bid we have secured funds to carry out a randomised control trial investigating the effect of foods enriched with PulseOn chickpea flour on glycaemic response and markers of appetite (including hunger, fullness, and energy intake at a test meal). As a research associate, you will be actively involved in participant recruitment, making the PulseOn products, data collection (through a range of appetite related, anthropometric, blood and questionnaire-based data), data processing (dietary analysis software, MS Excel, SPSS) and project administration.

Training will be provided where necessary, and in particular for the data collection and analysis methods. Some experience of taking anthropometric and blood measures would be preferable and applicants must have an undergraduate degree with a nutrition, food or health related focus. Please note that excellent time management is essential and as some measures need to be collected under fasted conditions, some early mornings may be necessary.

The Team

The Food Group sits within the College of Business, Technology and Engineering. This research is part of a study between the Food Group and the National Centre of Excellence for Food Engineering (NCEFE). You will be working with colleagues who have published in the area of appetite and food ingredient product formulation. You will largely be working in the feeding facility, laboratories and kitchens on the 12th floor of Owen, City Campus at Sheffield Hallam University.

Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from all candidates irrespective of age, pregnancy and maternity, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status. The University is unable to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role.

The role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route so if you are an international applicant, you will need to ensure you have an appropriate visa to evidence the necessary right to work in the UK.
