    About This Opportunity

    The Everick Indigenous Associate Research Assistant scheme supports the development of research skills through participation of appointees in research projects across the fields of archaeology, cultural heritage and related areas of inquiry (e.g. anthropology, earth science, architecture, environmental management, history and geography). Training and mentorship will provide Associate Research Assistants with opportunities to develop new research career pathways.

    The successful candidates will work with UQ researchers in the School of Social Science and projects may involve joint supervision with Social Science staff and researchers from other UQ Schools, Centres, Institutes, Museums and external research partners.     Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the collection of data or samples.

  • Maintain accurate and up to date research records.

  • Prepare text, graphs and figures for research reports.

  • Actively participate in research group meetings with supervisor.

  • Participate in presentation of research findings to UQ's research community in a research showcase.

  • Provide reflections to researchers on your experience.

  • There are six (6) casual positions available at HEW level 3, with an hourly rate in the range of $42.09 to $46.33, plus superannuation of 11%. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year. This role offers flexible working arrangements and hours may vary from week to week.

    About You

    The University of Queensland considers that being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act

    1991(Qld).

    The position is therefore only open to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

    The successful candidates will be required to provide evidence to confirm that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

  • Completion of a Year Twelve or Diploma qualification, or a Certificate IV with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • You are either a current student or prospective student at the University of Queensland (UQ).

  • Foundational knowledge of a discipline relevant to the research project.

  • Sound inter-personal and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Self-motivated and ability to prioritise workload to meet research deadlines.

  • A commitment to excellence, are conscientious with a high level of accuracy in work outputs.
