Posting Summary University of Vermont is looking for a team member to perform a wide variety of skilled repairs, maintenance and construction carpentry tasks requiring highly developed skills which include fabrication of exterior and interior walls, ceilings, floors, foundations, rafters, joists, stairwells, doors and windows. Select the appropriate materials and equipment to complete the job and rebuild or fabricate parts for outdated hardware. Read blue prints, sketches, and building plans for information. Access information utilizing software programs. May also provide technical assistance and direction to less experienced carpenters. Promote a work place that encourages safety within the Shop and field. Operate a University vehicle. May be required to operate an aerial lift. Reports to a Supervisor and requires active engagement in learning and practicing the university’s Our Common Ground values
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) High School Diploma and four to five years of related field (building/remodeling) experience required. Valid Vermont Driver’s License and Driver’s check required. Lifting of up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Experience using computers and mobile technology required. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing specific job tasks.
Desirable Qualifications
Anticipated Pay Range $26.00-$27.50/hour

Special Conditions A probationary period may be required, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions, Background Check required for this position
