The Role:
The University of Cambridge is seeking a knowledgeable and committed individual to join the University's Environmental Sustainability Team as the Carbon Assistant.
The Environmental Sustainability Team provides strategic direction, expert advice and operational support to enable the University to achieve its environmental sustainability commitments.
This role will develop our data to improve insights into the University's scope 3 carbon emissions. The post holder will be responsible for cleaning and analysing existing data, expanding use of tools and exploring solutions to establish a more complete understanding of the carbon impacts associated with the University's supply chain.
Engaging with the Assistant Carbon Manager, this role will also support the project goals of reducing emissions from business flights, by identifying the parameters to set a baseline and track the University Guidelines for Sustainable Business Travel's performance.
The Carbon Assistant role provides a uniquely valuable opportunity for the successful applicant regarding professional development or future job prospects.
The role holder will work closely with other members of the Carbon & Energy Team, wider Estates Division, Procurement Services and other divisions as required, to support other data development opportunities relating to tracking scope 3 carbon emissions reduction. Focus for additional work in this area can be adapted, based on the successful candidate's interest and experience.

The position is a hybrid working arrangement. The role is based in Cambridge and managed within the Environmental Sustainability Team in the Estates Division. When on site, this post is based in Greenwich House, Madingley Rise. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, in regard to location, to meet the requirements of the job including travel across Cambridge.
