Founded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. About the Department of Business and Retail Services

The Cougars Campus Store operates as a department within Business and Retail Services. It operates as a retail center to provide academic course materials, services and products to students in support of the mission and financial goals of the university.

About the Role

This Campus Store Service Representative provides key customer service for daily operations of a variety of products and services offered at the Cougars Campus Store and throughout Retail Services at MRU. Our Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) are expected to be engaged, connected, and understanding as they assist students, faculty, staff, and the general public with their needs as they connect with the many products and services offered at MRU. CSRs are responsible for delivering friendly, knowledgeable, and exceptional service in all actions and interactions at the Cougars Campus Store and throughout the MRU community. Along with ensuring the store is neat, tidy, and an exciting retail environment, CSRs provide customers an exemplary campus store experience while promoting the MRU brand and generating sales.

The CSRs' key areas of focus are on providing a customer experience on the sales floor and in all areas including, but not limited to, the MRU campus card system, digital print, textbook information, and general sales processing through the points- of-sale. Under the direction of campus store management, the CSRs work as a team and are the first point of contact for customers and need to be friendly, adaptable, dynamic, engaged, and possess excellent communication skills, all while modeling the MRU service values of integrity, respect, professionalism, and accountability.

Responsibilities

Customer Services

  • Provide customer experience on the sales floor and assist customers with all general enquiries, and all products and services available through the campus store and other areas as needed.
  • Perform point-of-sale transactions quickly and accurately in accordance with established cash control procedures and customer service guidelines provided by campus store management.
  • Utilize various software solutions to confidently provide customers with product knowledge which will enhance customer engagement, provide efficient service, drive MRU brand loyalty, and maximize sales.
  • Promote awareness and growth of the Cougar brands by introducing customers to additional brand channels and MRU initiatives found within the store and across the campus.
  • Proactively resolve customer concerns in a manner consistent with campus store policy while keeping customer satisfaction in mind.
  • Consistently provide support to all campus store staff through sharing and enhancing general knowledge, helping to complete tasks in a quick and effective manner, and assisting in customer interactions whenever necessary.
  • Maintain and promote Cougars Campus Store brand standards of neat, clean and organized sales floor, fitting room and stockroom to ensure the store is safe, inviting, and presentable for employees and customers.
  • Operational Store Support

  • Assist in ensuring merchandise is tagged and priced with the accurate information found in the inventory system and organized on the sales floor to a consistent merchandising standard.
  • Aid in re-stocking the sales floor and maintaining store signage to ensure that pricing information is clearly communicated to the customers.
  • Provide feedback to the Purchasing Supervisor based on customer requests.
  • Assist in meeting digital needs and posting on social media as required.
  • Help process received shipments and inspect merchandise to ensure a high level of quality control is maintained.
  • Campus Engagement

  • Work with and support MRU partners and stakeholders outside of the Cougars Campus Store on projects.
  • Build campus-wide relationships by supporting the MRU brand, attending off-site events, promoting alumni relations, and engaging in the MRU community.
  • Understand and adhere to MRU's Mission, Vision, and Values by embodying the service values of integrity, respect, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Qualifications
  • One-year post secondary certificate / program completion.
  • 12 - 18 months of experience working in a busy retail environment where customer service is of utmost importance.
  • Experience in a campus store is not required, but would be an asset.
  • Some knowledge of print environment and bindery equipment would be an asset.
