Working primarily from our Townsville campus, you will collaborate with operational teams and leaders to simplify processes, improve services and embed better ways of working, including opportunities supported by automation, AI and digital tools.

• Full-time, continuing opportunity | 36.25 hours per week
• Based on-site at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas
• HEWL 8: $111,960 - $128,567 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Business Improvement Officer, you will help drive meaningful improvements across JCU by partnering with teams to identify opportunities, solve operational challenges and improve the way work gets done.

Working across a diverse range of services, you will lead improvement initiatives from opportunity identification through to implementation, benefits realisation and transition into business-as-usual operations.

Success in this role comes from working alongside operational teams to understand how services are delivered, identify practical opportunities for improvement and support the implementation of sustainable solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.

This is a hands-on improvement role focused on achieving results, not simply analysing problems. You will help build capability, support change and embed new ways of working that improve service delivery, efficiency and customer experience.

Based primarily at JCU's Bebegu Yumba campus in Townsville, this is a visible, relationship-focused role that suits someone who enjoys being in the business, building connections and working directly with people to make a tangible difference.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

A passion for improving services, solving problems and helping people achieve better outcomes. This role will suit an experienced continuous improvement practitioner who enjoys working directly with operational teams and turning improvement opportunities into practical, sustainable results.

Experience leading improvement initiatives from opportunity identification through to implementation and benefits realisation will be highly regarded. Success in the role requires a practical, delivery-focused approach and the ability to engage stakeholders, build momentum and maintain focus on outcomes.

Strong relationship-building, facilitation and problem-solving skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with leaders, subject matter experts and frontline teams. Experience applying approaches such as Lean, process mapping, root cause analysis and benefits measurement will support your ability to translate complexity into achievable actions and measurable improvements.

Motivation comes from seeing change successfully implemented, adopted and sustained. A collaborative approach, resilience and an ability to influence through credibility and trust will be key to helping teams embrace new ways of working and deliver lasting benefits.

An interest in AI, automation, workflow technologies and other digital solutions will be valuable. While technical expertise is not essential, the ability to recognise opportunities and partner with specialists to deliver practical business outcomes will support success in the role.
