Business Development Manager - Digital Health Validation Laboratory

Job Purpose

To be responsible for supporting the continued development and analysis of managing collaborative external relationships and partnership opportunities, identifying potential clients, developing leads and building relationships in line with the strategic objectives of the DHVL.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. To identify and manage new and existing external partnerships through various platforms (e.g. online research, industry events, networking)

2. To provide professional expertise to initiate and manage outreach efforts including emailing, identifying dissemination routes, attending meetings to introduce DHVL's services to potential users.

3. To proactively develop and enhance collaborations with prospects and existing users, ensuring regular follow up and ongoing engagement.

4. Support in the preparation of proposals, presentations and sales materials and developing enquiries into converted new projects/business for the DHVL.

5. To actively promote and describe g DHVL to enhance potential partnership and/or engagement

6. To play a leading role in organising meetings with external organisations (including preparation of agendas and meeting summaries) to support pipeline growth and development of new partnerships for the DHVL.

7. Proactively monitor industry trends, competitor activities and the market to identify new opportunities for growth and development in support of the agreed strategy.

8. To regularly review and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all business development activities in the DHVL's CRM system.

9. Working closely with the DHVL lead, Portfolio Manager and Communications & Marketing Officer to align business development strategies with DHVL's goals.

10. Prepare regular reports on business development activities, prioritise activity and progress toward goals.

11. To undertake admin/operational duties related to the development and maintenance of business development activities for the DHVL.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework Level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s). OR Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or related role(s).

A2 Knowledge and experience of working and collaborating with relevant companies and understanding of their business drivers.

Desirable:

B1 Proven ability to learn about new health related technologies, products and services.

B2 Knowledge of scientific/medical terms and principles of healthcare innovation B3 Knowledge of emerging health related technologies in areas such as diagnostics, Artificial intelligence and digital therapeutics

C1 Excellent interpersonal and listening skills and ability to interact effectively with people at varying levels within a wide-range of organisations.

C2 Ability to influence, develop and build relationships with customers/stakeholders.

C3 Ability to interpret, understand and generate ideas to workable solutions

C5 Excellent oral and written communication skills, including a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

C7 Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

C8 Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Experience

Essential

E1 Experience of working with in a business development role and/or similar demonstrating working in collaboration with industrial and/or commercial partners.

E2 Experience of working in a complex technical or innovative environment within life sciences

E3 Experience of informing and implementing strategic plans with clear goals and objectives

E4 Proven track record of influencing and negotiating at senior levels in the public and/or private sector towards the successful delivery of organisational objectives.

E5 Experience of engaging and successfully forming networks with a broad range of stakeholders to develop concrete opportunities to realise partnerships.

Desirable:

F1 Experience of developing strong strategic relationships with external business partners and converting these into value added deliverables (product, service, other)

F2 Engaging with working with cross functional team and demonstrating ability to bridge gap between disciplines and commercial backgrounds

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 7, £40,247 - £45,163 per annum.

This post is full time, and has funding up to 30th September 2025 in first instance.

Location: The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
