School of Social Sciences and Humanities

Full Time, Open-Ended.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with a strong financial background to join the Business Support Services team in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. The post-holder will supervise the School Finance Team and liaise with other areas of the University to support School activities, including the Research and Innovation Office and the Finance and Procurement Team.

Here's more about the role and what we're looking for:

Working with colleagues in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Business Administration Officer (Finance) will act as the Designated Departmental Person (DPP) and be responsible for all financial administration in the School including the monitoring and authorisation of spend relating to teaching, research and enterprise. This includes:

  • Purchasing of goods and services
  • Checking and processing claims for expenses
  • Processing journal transfers
  • Booking business travel and accommodation
  • Maintenance of financial records including financial reporting
  • Monitoring non-pay budgets
  • Overseeing the setting up of casual workers
  • Key Requirements:

  • You'll have significant relevant experience within a financial role.
  • You'll have significant experience within a student or other customer- focused role.
  • You'll have well-developed problem-solving skills and used to using initiative and judgement in complex situation.
  • You'll be able to work to tight deadlines and deal with unforeseen problems.
  • You'll have excellent interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
