    About This Opportunity

    The Blaklash Internship has been created to provide relevant work and industry experience in a museum and university environment for an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander undergraduate student in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) school. The successful candidate will be supported to establish or deepen their areas of interest and outcomes will be developed in consultation with the successful candidate's specific learning objectives. Areas of interest may include Curatorial/Exhibitions, Engagement, Education, Registration, Public Programming or Communications.

    The successful candidate will receive mentorship from both UQ Art Museum Senior Team members as well as Blaklash Creative, with opportunities for learning and development hours to be spent with each partner.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Using a variety of sources to assist in the development of written documents about UQ Art Museum projects for a range of different of stakeholders, including internal, external partners, and audiences.

  • Assisting with the development of resources including project-related documents and reports

  • Providing some administrative support for the Senior Team Leader and undertaking other duties relevant to the position as required.

  • This is a casual position for 2 days per week for approximately 40 weeks at HEW level 1, with an hourly rate in the range of $37.16 to $38.65, plus superannuation of 11%. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year. This role offers flexible working arrangements and hours may vary from week to week.

    About You
  • Currently undertaking undergraduate (minimum 1 year completed) in the HASS Faculty at UQ.

  • Demonstrated interest in cultivating arts community knowledge and engagement.

  • Some level of ability in research and writing.

  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people by telephone, email and in person.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to use computer applications in a networked environment, in a large- to medium-sized organisation, or the demonstrated ability to acquire such skills.

  • A desire to gain knowledge and skills relevant to art museum practice.

  • Eligibility

    This internship is intended for current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander UQ students studying any undergraduate degree in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) school.
