Outline
The purpose of the Balnaves Foundation Indigenous Medical Scholarships is to encourage Indigenous students to study Medicine at UNSW Sydney.
The Scholarship will normally be tenable for the minimum program duration (6 years) of the Medicine program (BMed/MD), subject to satisfactory progress.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must be:
- an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander as identified by their community
- commencing full-time study in the BMed/MD program at UNSW
The scholarship is open to students prospectively entering their first year.
Selection
Selection will be based on:
- A combination of the UAC Equity Scholarship application and the Pre Med Exit Interview
- Aptitude and commitment to studies in the area of Medicine and the commitment to a career in Indigenous Health
- Personal qualities and contributions to the wider community; for example communication skills, evidence of leadership skills, involvement in extra-curricular activities, cultural activities, sport and community groups
To be considered for this Scholarship, applicants must apply and submit a UAC Equity Scholarship application online at the UAC Website by 16 January, 2025.
Interviews
The Pre-Med Program exit interview will be the only interview required.
