The primary responsibilities of the Audiology Clinical Supervisor are clinical teaching and supervision of undergraduate and graduate audiology students performing audiological evaluation and treatment of clients in the audiology program. These responsibilities are carried out in the Carls Center, off campus sites as assigned, and in support of Mobile Health Central as needed. Direct clinical services to the community are provided by the Audiology Clinical Supervisor on a twelve month basis. Functions under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Instruction and Audiology Services or a designated representative. Exercises supervision over student employees as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in Audiology (AuD and/or PhD) or Master's Degree in Audiology (MA/MS) obtained prior to 2007. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence: Audiology (CCC-A) or eligible to become certified upon hire. Current or eligible upon hire for a Michigan License in Audiology. Effective oral/written communication skills. Must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of professional experience as an audiologist. Two years of experience in the clinical supervision of audiology students. Demonstrated ability to maintain positive interpersonal relations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical teaching and supervision of undergraduate and graduate audiology students. Audiological evaluation and treatment of clients and subsequent follow-up. Coordination/supervision of students at off campus sites. Provision of audiologic support services to Mobile Health Central. Provision of support services to school personnel. Teaches clinical practicum courses as assigned. Attends university/college/department/division meetings as appropriate. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Carls Center for Clinical Care and Education is the premier specialty rehabilitation center in Mid-Michigan pooling the talents of clinicians, faculty, and students at Central Michigan University. The clinic specializes in audiology, speech language pathology, physical therapy, and psychology services. The Carls Center providers deliver high quality, specialized clinical care and rehabilitation by excelling in patient care and education, community involvement, and clinical training and research. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) has a faculty/staff of 35, and an enrollment of approximately 120 graduate students and 200 undergraduate signed majors. The department's academic and clinical programs are accredited in both speech-language pathology and audiology by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA). Over 5,000 clients are seen annually, including 100+ participants in the Summer Specialty Clinics program.
