  • Position Summary:

    UAA's Aviation Technology Division on Merrill Field is currently accepting applications for its Aircraft Mechanic's Helper labor pool.

    Duties:

    The UAA, Aviation Technology Division, Aircraft Maintenance department is currently accepting applications for its part-time, temporary, non-exempt staff Aircraft Mechanic's Helper labor pool. The general duties associated with this position can include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting aircraft maintenance personnel in the maintenance and repair of training fleet aircraft.
  • Performing routine duties such as furnishing materials, tools and supplies to the aircraft mechanic(s); lifting and holding materials in place during operation/installation; inflating tires, cleaning aircraft interior/exterior, etc.
  • Assembling and/or disassembling machines, equipment, components, and parts.
  • Cleaning and/or lubricating machinery, equipment, instruments, tools, work area, and power tools.
  • Performing general shop clean up and other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of and experience using machines and tools used in the maintenance of general aviation aircraft.

    Ability to understand and retain information provided verbally and/or in writing.

    Ability to work cohesively as part of a team, with multi-level guidance.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Mechanical aptitude helpful.

    Familiarity with aviation ground operations safety protocols most desirable.

    Preferred Experience & Education:

    Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited Aviation Maintenance Program for Airframe and Powerplant Certification.

    6 months experience helping aircraft mechanics maintain and repair vehicles, machinery and electrical equipment.

    Required Experience & Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Current Driver's License.

    Minimum 3 to 6 months of dependable work history.

    Salary Information:

    This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA temporary salary schedule, Grade 76, $18.18/hour.
