Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for Associate Tutor to teach its Leadership module.

Within Birkbeck's Business School, we are looking for an Associate Tutor for the following module-

  • MOOP017H7 Leadership, Level 7
  • 13.5 hours teaching 6-7:30pm (in-person) or 7:30-9pm (online)
  • Thursday evenings, over 9 weeks: 22 April to 17 June 2024
  • You will have knowledge of leadership from a range of disciplinary and theoretical perspectives (organisational psychology, HRM, sociology, intersectional feminist theory, and critical management studies).

    You will be committed to teaching the subject area, Leadership, through critical perspectives and reflexivity. Ideally, you will have experience of teaching and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).

    Further to the person specification in the Job Description pack, essential requirements for this role are:

  • A postgraduate degree in the field of leadership or management, preferably having or close to completing a doctoral degree;
  • A good understanding of the needs of part-time adult learners or some experience of leading/managing diversity in organisations would be beneficial;
  • Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills across a range of relevant contexts;
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently as appropriate;
  • Willing to engage in reflective and critical practice.
  • Remuneration

    Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £58.48 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 6 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier' which covers preparation, teaching, administration, in connection with the course.

    Terms and Conditions

    Fixed term contract from April to August 2024. This role includes teaching on Thursday evenings, in-person and online from April to June 2024.
