We are also dedicated to worthwhile community programs and public education projects. DOVS, always “in search of excellence”, is looking for local and overseas candidates to take up positions in our research (academic, community and translational) programmes involving clinical ophthalmology, ophthalmic investigations, public education, and specific disease entities including COVID-19, children eye diseases, autoimmune diseases, ocular surface diseases, refractive errors, ocular cancers, dry eye disease, neuro-ophthalmic diseases, thyroid eye diseases, glaucoma, and retina diseases.

The Department is looking world-wide for quality scientists at Associate Professor level to work with clinical ophthalmologists, clinician scientists, and basic research scientists to advance patient service, research, training, and education to the highest possible standard in ophthalmology and visual sciences.

Applicants should have (i) a higher qualification in medical sciences (e.g. PhD degree); (ii) proven research experience, with a good track record in pathogenesis/mechanism of eye diseases, molecular biology, ocular cell biology, animal models of eye diseases and translational investigations including novel treatment modes, (iii) track records in local and national major research fundings in ophthalmology or visual sciences, (iv) teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and (v) proven experiences in teaching, collaborative research and conferences with tertiary institutions in mainland China. International reputation including organizing overseas conferences, serving in international professional committees, reviewing scientific manuscripts, and assessing research grant applications are desirable. Applicants with or without medical qualifications are welcome. The appointee(s) will help with research, teaching and other tasks assigned by the Department.

Appointment(s) will normally be made on contract basis for one to two years initially commencing as soon as possible, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
