The Department of Music at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invites applications for a Full or Associate Professor (tenure-track) appointment in music composition. The position is expected to begin in late August 2024. The ideal candidate will have a substantial international profile with an extraordinary record of artistic production, student/alumni job-placement success, and administrative experience within an academic context. The Department of Music will begin its review of applications on October 16, 2023.
The position requires commitment to leadership and collaboration. The candidate would be responsible for the curricular development of the graduate programs in composition, advising the Chair on curricular updates and composition course offerings and working with the Director of the Center for 21st Century Music on the creation and production of new music. The 2+2 teaching load of this position includes a mix of graduate composition studio lessons, graduate seminars in composition and related courses in areas of interest to the candidate which could include undergraduate teaching of majors and non-majors in accordance with the Department's curricular requirements in composition, music history, music theory, performance and the University's General Education course offerings. The candidate would be expected to advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in composition in their course selections, navigation of degree requirements, and creative directions.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or D.M.A. in Music Composition or equivalent professional and /or educational experience with an extensive and distinguished record of creative and professional accomplishment in the field.
