Base salary will be in the range $64,963- $71,505 + 17% Superannuation (HEW 3)

Join the team as an Associate Plant Growth Assistant, supporting the Plant Growth organisational unit in delivering exceptional services for teaching and research. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating critical plant growth infrastructure, including glasshouses, greenhouses, and growth cabinets. Your expertise will ensure the health and vitality of research plants through horticultural support, maintenance of equipment, and delivery of quality services across multiple UQ facilities (St Lucia, Long Pocket, and Gatton).
Reporting to the Facility Manager/s, you will play a key role in setting up experiments, monitoring plant health, and contributing to innovative research outcomes. You will also support sustainable practices, ensuring the efficient use of resources and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities
At least 1-2 years of horticulture experience, including glasshouse and greenhouse work.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining plant growth equipment such as microscopes, autoclaves, and irrigation systems.
Ability to monitor plant health and address issues such as diseases and pest infestations promptly.
Strong attention to safety, with knowledge of OH&S standards and a commitment to compliance.
Forklift and/or skid steer loader certificates, with a willingness to work across multiple facilities and in varied weather conditions.

Proven ability to monitor plant health and report issues like diseases or pest infestations.
Experience with operating and maintaining plant growth equipment, including microscopes, autoclaves, and grow lights.
Skilled in setting up and maintaining irrigation systems and plant growth infrastructure.
At least 1-2 years of experience in glasshouse and greenhouse operations, including plant culture and handling.
Physically fit to perform manual tasks and maintain a safe working environment.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, etc.
