The University of Worcester is looking for enthusiastic and experienced sessional lecturers with a background in social work to support, plan, and teach students across three courses: Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Social Work, Master of Arts (MA) in Social Work, and the recently approved Social Work (BA) Apprenticeship course. Applicants should have the relevant social work qualification and be a registered social worker with Social Work England, plus have relevant experience in developing and delivering teaching and learning within an educational setting. Successful applicants will be placed on a register of sessional lecturers and will be notified when suitable vacancies arise.

The successful candidates will join a friendly and supportive Social Work team within the Department of Social Work and Paramedic Science, which is part of the School of Allied Health and Community. The academic staff in the Social Work course team are all registered social workers.

Selection Process:

Short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview and will be asked to prepare and present a 10-minute presentation to the following brief: The topic will be "How to Develop Meaningful Skills Teaching for Apprenticeship Social Work Students."

NB: If you are successful at the interview, you will be invited to join a pool of sessional lecturers, and we will contact you if suitable work becomes available. We cannot guarantee employment as it will be subject to student numbers. The number of hours available might only be a few hours per week. If you have any queries regarding this, please discuss it with us at the interview.

If only an element of this work is offered that does not involve additional preparation and administration, a standard hourly rate will apply, currently £19.23 plus £4.23 holiday pay.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Jo Lewis (Head of Department, Principal Lecturer in Social Work and Paramedic Science) at [email protected]
