Sheffield Institute of Education (SIoE) offers sector leading initial teacher training in early years, primary, secondary and post-16 and we are rated outstanding in all four areas by Ofsted.   We are currently looking for applications for Associate Lecturers for the Primary Education area of our provision with experience and expertise across Key Stage 1 and 2.   The role will be teaching and supporting students on placement across Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Early years and Primary with QTS.   The role will include responsibility for the teaching, learning and assessment of students at postgraduate level, alongside working collaboratively with our partnership schools to support trainee placement experiences. The post holder will contribute to delivering a high-quality curriculum that supports trainees in developing strong subject knowledge, pedagogical understanding, and reflective practice in primary education.   Staff members often teach across our provision. The successful candidate may also be asked to contribute to Secondary Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and School Centered Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), as well other related teaching at Masters or Undergraduate level, undertaking school visits, and providing academic advising.   We encourage staff to continue to develop their own research and scholarly profile, particularly in areas related to primary education, curriculum development, or teacher education. There are a range of opportunities and support mechanisms available to enable all academic staff to engage in research, knowledge exchange, and professional practice.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.   The University currently enrols eligible academic staff into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), a defined-benefit pension scheme.   Further details on TPS can be found  here.   Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from all candidates irrespective of age, pregnancy and maternity, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status.   For this job we particularly welcome applications from ethnic minority applicants who are underrepresented in this area/this type of job at Sheffield Hallam   If you are offered this post you will be subject to an enhanced with barred lists check-child workforce by the Disclosure and Barring Service.  A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.   The role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route so if you are an international applicant, you will need to ensure you have an appropriate visa to evidence the necessary right to work in the UK.
