    About This Opportunity

    An exciting opportunity exists for a fixed-term position as Associate Lecturer in Anthropology in the UQ School of Social Science. As a teaching-focused academic, the successful applicant will be required to teach the second semester offering of ANTH1008: Being Human: Cultural Diversity and Experience and to engage in the collegial life of the School.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Teaching

  • Coordinate courses, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials, and undertake assessment and marking for undergraduate and postgraduate courses as required.

  • Maintain the quality of courses as measured through evaluation instruments to meet industry and educational standards.

  • Be available to consult with and mentor students.

  • Where relevant, provide guidance to course tutors, markers and teaching assistants in the activity of teaching.

  • Understand and apply University Rules relevant to teaching and learning practice.

  • Citizenship and Service

  • Engage with the collegial life and activities of the School, Faculty and University

  • Effectively perform a range of administrative functions as required.

  • Consistently demonstrate the UQ values.

    This is a part-time (50%), fixed-term position until 1 November 2024.

    At Academic level A , the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,324 - $102,945, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,470 - $120,445 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

    About You

    Applicants should possess a PhD or near completion of a PhD in the field of Anthropology.

    Additionally, you will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge in one or more relevant fields of Anthropology.

  • An ability to teach effective courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels using active learning and flexible approaches to teaching, including teaching online.

  • An emerging teaching profile in the discipline area.

  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching and learning.
