In this pivotal role, you will lead the Development Section, driving research growth and innovation enhancement across the university. You will be responsible for supporting the full research lifecycle, from inception to impact, ensuring the delivery of high-quality research services to academic, postgraduate, and professional colleagues.

This role will require you to work closely with the Director of RIKE, the Pro Vice Chancellor for Research, and Associate Deans for Research to develop strategies and policies that foster an outstanding research environment. You will play a crucial role in positioning York as a leader in engaged and impactful research, influencing national policies, and contributing to the university's income from research awards.

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Research Development Team, fostering a professional services culture that aligns with York's research priorities.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to shape research strategies and enhance external funding.
  • Elevate York's research profile nationally and internationally by optimising the impact of our research.
  • Ensure compliance with research funding requirements and continuously improve training opportunities for researchers.
  • Support postgraduate researchers through engagement with funders and embedding best practices.
  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree and professional qualification, or equivalent experience
  • Proven leadership in research development
  • Extensive experience of managing diverse research portfolios and delivering effective funding strategies
  • Strong track-record of securing research funding and supporting interdisciplinary projects.
  • Expertise in developing research strategies and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of the research landscape and commitment to fostering a collaborative research environment.
  • We particularly welcome applications from Female candidates, and candidates who identify as Black, Asian, or from a Minority Ethnic background, are strongly encouraged to apply as they are currently under-represented in senior leadership roles at the University.
