Job Title Assistant Teaching Professor in Landscape Architecture - (2 Positions - open)

The Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Rhode Island is hiring four Assistant Teaching Professors (ATP) in Landscape Architecture to start in Fall semester 2023. These positions are full time, non-tenure-track, one-year appointments, to begin August 2023, with the expectation for yearly renewal. The positions are covered under the URI/AAUP contract.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruct a full teaching load (12 credits or the equivalent, as needed) of landscape architecture core courses per semester. Other equivalent responsibilities could include:

Undergraduate advising in the landscape architecture program.

Assist the department in developing pedagogies and approaches to enhance learning outcomes in diversity, equity and inclusion.

Participate in outreach activities and on departmental efforts to support the strategic plans of the institution and College of the Environment and Life Sciences.

Required Qualifications:

1) BLA or MLA accredited professional degree at time of appointment.

2) A relevant master's degree (MLA or other) OR equivalent professional experience leading to landscape architecture licensure.

3) Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate landscape architecture courses.

4) Demonstrated skills in design and technology.

5) Demonstrated strong oral communication skills.

6) Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) PhD in related field such as planning or civil engineering.

2) Demonstrated ability to teach a wide range of landscape architecture classes, such as CAD, construction, graphics, design, sustainability.

3) Demonstrated ability to work as a team and/or in a complex academic environment.
