Assistant Teaching Professor - Dental Education (Part Time)

The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) delivers high quality and distinctive educational programmes for adult learners, predominantly studying on a part-time basis, for either personal enrichment or professional development. ICE aims to ensure that the expertise and resources of the University of Cambridge are made available to all students, irrespective of their previous educational achievements.

The Medicine, Health and Life Sciences Portfolio includes a range of undergraduate and post graduate courses including new provision in the area of Dental Education. This new PG Cert in Dental Education is designed to complement the PGCert in Medical Education, which is a long established and high regarded course.

To support the further development of the portfolio we are seeking a suitably qualified, enthusiastic team member to undertake the role of Course Director for the PGCert in Dental Education. This is an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the advancement of Postgraduate training in Dental Education. The role holder will need to work collaboratively with colleagues at ICE and other stakeholders in the University and wider dental care communities to ensure the very highest academic quality and professional standards, commensurate with the University of Cambridge's reputation. The role holder will work collaboratively to lead the development, orchestration, teaching, and ongoing evaluation and improvement of the Institute of Continuing Education's Post Graduate Certificate (PGCert) in Dental Education. This will include the development of a substantial element of online teaching delivery. The role holder will also need to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure provision, management and marketing of high-quality academically rigorous teaching programmes compliant with University and external regulatory frameworks.

The successful candidate will have a recognised scholarly profile in Dental Education, as well as proven track record in delivering excellent learning and teaching and programme management. Candidates with experience of designing and delivering programmes for part-time postgraduate students in professional roles, as well as a commitment to work flexibly to meet the needs of our students are particularly encouraged to apply.

The salary for this post is: £45,585 - £57,696 pro-rata per annum. A market pay supplement may be considered for a suitable candidate.

Informal enquiries are encouraged and can be made to Dr Emma English, [email protected] Questions about the application process may be directed to: [email protected].

Please upload in the Upload section of the online application (1) your CV; (2) a Covering Letter of no more than 1,500 words, outlining how your skills and experience would contribute to the continued success of the Medicine, Health and Life Sciences Portfolio, specifically the Dental Education and Medical Education postgraduate programmes. If you upload any additional documents, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.

The closing date for applications is 20 October 2024. Interviews are expected to take place between on 28th October and 4th November.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
