General Information

James Madison University announces the availability of a tenure track (10-month) assistant professor faculty position in the School of Strategic Leadership Studies (SSLS) beginning Fall 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities

Faculty in SSLS have research and teaching responsibilities within the Strategic Leadership Ph.D. program, and the faculty member would be integral in the delivery of core leadership and statistics requirements. SSLS is seeking candidates with the demonstrated capacity to teach quantitative statistical methods commonly used in the social sciences, specifically those techniques common to leadership research. In addition to teaching core and elective courses within the School, the faculty member will engage in research, scholarship, and service obligations within the School and field.

Qualifications

All applicants must possess an earned doctorate and demonstrate strong proficiency in research design, methods, and statistics used in quantitative- based leadership research. Areas of proficiency include but are not limited to: measurement and psychometrics, program design and evaluation, and univariate and multivariate inferential statistical procedures (e.g., regression). Successful candidates for this position will have a strong desire and ability to teach quantitative research methodology courses to PhD students of diverse levels of preparedness. In addition to quantitative methodology courses, a variety of graduate courses in leadership are available for teaching. Supervision of dissertations as a committee chair, methodologist, or member is a critical component of faculty responsibilities.

Preference will be given to those candidates with the following: capability to teach and supervise quantitative research; demonstrated research interest in leadership; ability to design, develop, deliver, and assess innovative curricula; commitment to providing exemplary instruction for a diverse student population; experience with teaching graduate students and/or adult learners; understanding of critical research perspectives; experience supervising graduate research or managing research projects, such as funded projects or graduate lab management assistantships; superior oral communication skills; the willingness and enthusiasm to collaborate in the implementation of a cross-disciplinary doctoral leadership program; proficiency with SEM and HLM; and knowledge of SPSS, Python, machine learning, web scraping, and/or R packages.
