Position SummaryThe Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University (MSU) is seeking outstanding candidates for a junior faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor in theoretical nuclear physics, establishing and leading a sponsored, world-class theoretical nuclear physics research program at FRIB with a focus on heavy nuclei and computational methods such as machine learning, cloud computing, and quantum computing.
The position will be filled at the rank of research assistant professor at MSU within the Research Faculty Appointment Systems.
The FRIB faculty is comprised of more than 40 full-time faculty members and is the home of a similar number of postdoctoral researchers and 150 graduate and 200 undergraduate students. The academic program in any of the joint departments offers degrees at the BS, MS, and PhD levels.
FRIB is a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science user facility and affords world-class research opportunities in low-energy nuclear science since user operation commenced in May 2022. Since 2010, MSU's nuclear physics graduate program is ranked No. 1 in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report 's rankings of graduate programs.
