California State University San Marcos is interesting in hiring one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level; available for individuals with a strong background in Public Health and/or related health determinant fields. Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in teaching public health coursework in one or more key areas (e.g., Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Community Health/Health Education, Environmental Health, Health Policy), and potential for excellence in one or more research areas relating to Community-Engaged Research, Health Disparities/Health Equity, Health Data, Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Chronic and Infectious Diseases, Prevention Interventions, Health Policy, Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition, and/or Evaluation or similar areas of research related to health promotion or global health. Individuals are encouraged to describe all areas for which they have demonstrated expertise. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications
- An earned doctorate (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD) in Public Health or a closely related field is required. ABD candidates will be considered, but must have completed the doctorate by hire date.
- The candidate should have a demonstrated record of success in teaching and research commensurate with the qualifications for Assistant Professor at CSUSM.
- Experience in teaching, research or other creative activities, and the ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus is required.
- Candidate must have experience working with undergraduate and/or graduate college level students and practical experience in preparing manuscripts and grant proposals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise and ability to teach both introductory and higher-level courses in Public Health. We encourage candidates to look at the courses offered by the department and describe the courses they can teach in their teaching statement.
- History of interdisciplinary collaboration and/or community-based research.
- Evidence of applying to and obtaining external funding.
- Post doctoral or clinical training.
- Additionally, applicants who can demonstrate intercultural competence with a variety of groups in teaching, research, and service are strongly preferred.
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $7,427 - $7,980 per month
CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,221- $13,224 per month
