The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Translational Science for the Center for Alzheimer's and Neurodegenerative Diseases. This is a unique opportunity to lead a cutting-edge research program aimed at understanding and developing novel therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease.

As the Director of Translational Science, you will be responsible for leading a team of scientists and overseeing the development of innovative research programs focused on translating basic science discoveries into new therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. You will collaborate with other researchers at the Center and across the university to identify new drug targets and develop preclinical models to validate potential therapeutics. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing clinical trials for promising therapeutic candidates.

Key responsibilities:

Lead a team of scientists to develop and implement research programs aimed at translating basic science discoveries into novel therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.

  • Collaborate with other researchers to identify new drug targets and develop preclinical models to validate potential therapeutics.
  • Work closely with other members of the Center's leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans for the Center.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier scientific journals and present them at national and international conferences.
  • Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in basic and/or translational research related to neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience leading scientific teams.
  • Good track record of publications in top-tier scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other researchers and stakeholders.
  • Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
