Assistant Professor

Workplace: Department of European Ethnology, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University EU Researcher Profile: R2 (Assistant Professor)

The position is intended for a graduate of ethnology or social and cultural anthropology who is ready to actively and dedicately participate in research and educational activities and development of Ethnology study programs implemented at the Institute of European Ethnology, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University.

MAIN JOB CONTENT

Pedagogical

  • participation in leading lectures or other forms of teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programme Ethnology in Czech and English (lecture 2 hours per week in Czech, lecture 2 hours per week in English)
  • leading and consulting field practices of students in the Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral study programs in Ethnology;
  • leading, consulting or opposing theses
  • creation of study and teaching materials
  • participation in the organization of pedagogical activities
  • participation in publishing activities, especially for educational purposes
  • participation in theoretical and practical teaching taking place in the workplace
  • membership in boards for final state examinations.
  • Research

  • individual and team research activities in the field of ethnology according to the applicant's professional profile
  • publication of results in peer-reviewed journals (indexed in databases Scopus, Web of Science), scientific monographs or peer-reviewed proceedings
  • active participation in domestic and foreign scientific conferences and professional meetings and presentation of research results
  • participation in international networks in the field of basic and applied ethnological research
  • participation in the organization of research activities
  • active effort to obtain grant projects
  • professional growth prospects

  • administration of the library and archives of the department
  • participation in ensuring operational and administrative activities related to the agreed type of work according to the instructions of the head of the workplace
  • common administrative tasks in the administration of own subjects, the use of e-learning and communication with students through the MU Information System
  • participation in the organization of research and pedagogical activities, including related administration
  • organization and participation in foreign internships of students and academic staff
  • WE REQUEST

    Professional education, qualifications and experience

    (a) obligatorily required:

  • completed Ph.D. education in ethnology or social and cultural anthropology
  • experience with field research of historical and contemporary forms of culture
  • experience with lecturing at a university (include a list of lectures, seminars or other courses in the appendix stating the year and name of the workplace of the higher education institution)
  • excellent knowledge of Czech or Slovak language (at least at C1 level)
  • knowledge of English at B2 level
  • work experience from abroad in the form of studies, professional or work placements (long-term experience is an advantage) – a condition for the position of assistant professor
  • potential for publishing professional texts in the form of scientific studies and monographs (include a list of previous publication activities)
  • b) recommended:

  • involvement in domestic and foreign professional networks and foreign experience in the field (include a list of internships, study stays and other professionally profiled stays abroad and a list of active participation in conferences and seminars abroad)
  • results at the international level (scientific results, grants, pedagogical results, etc.) or a major contribution to the implementation of major international scientific projects, or international lectures, etc
  • Requirements related to the duties

  • the ability to actively involve students in the course of teaching and the ability to support discussion
  • ability to use modern teaching aids and teaching materials
  • ability to clearly formulate research results
  • ability of independent professional and scientific work, including publication activities
