ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

ASSISTANT
focusing on teacher training courses in political science and international
relations.

The Department of Civics is preparing teacher assistants for the Civic
Education courses and Foundations of Social Studies and teachers of Civic
Education. Its programs have a broad disciplinary focus, including social

YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant or Assistant Professor will perform activities related to the
pedagogical and scientific aspects of the academic profession:
Participates in the teaching of mandatory (and eventually elective)
courses focused on political theory, political science theory and
international relations in all possible forms: lectures, seminars or other
(e.g., field trips)
Supervises, opposes, and consults on bachelor's and master's theses of
Department of Civics students.
Participates in the department's mobility activities (Erasmus
contracts).
Conducts own research and research activities or participates in research
and research projects of colleagues at the department. This activity
results in professional publications (articles in indexed professional
journals, chapters in professional books published by recognised
professional publishers, etc.) and participation in professional local
and international conferences and seminars.
The assistant professor may also be a member of exam committees and work
as a tutor or consultant, prepare to meet the requirements for appointment
as an associate professor, and guarantee selected courses.
OUR REQUIREMENTS
Professional education and qualifications experience:
Master's degree in political science and/or international relations or
related disciplines (required),
Finished doctoral programme (PhD degree) in the above-mentioned fields,
or a student of doctoral programmes with the expectation of obtaining a
degree by the end of 2024 at the latest (prerequisite),
active knowledge of English (minimum level B2) (required),
ability to teach in the Czech language (minimum level C1 or native
speaker) (required),
potential for national and international scientific/research activities,
as demonstrated by a list of publications and professional activities
(required),
experience of teaching at a university (advantage),
teaching experience in primary school, secondary school, or higher
education (advantage).
Other knowledge and skills: (required)
Good IT user skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook),
secure data, information and digital content management, ability to
collaborate through digital technologies (MS Teams, ZOOM, etc.),
Flexibility and willingness to contribute to the student training
development,
Good organisational and communication skills, independence,
responsibility, ability to come up with own research and pedagogical
projects and innovations in teaching.
