Description
The University of Chicago Booth School of Business invites applications for tenure-track positions at the assistant or associate professor levels in Applied AI for the 2026-27 academic year.
Qualifications
Candidates should have deep expertise in AI/ML fundamentals, along with a strong interest in empirical work. The empirical work should be in a substantive domain, which could be a subfield of AI/ML (e.g., safety, human-centered AI), in STEM more broadly (e.g., medicine, materials science), or the social sciences (e.g., law, policy). Booth is a research-focused institution doing leading work across a breadth of academic areas, and is seeking candidates with expertise in AI who can enhance and complement the research effort here. Successful candidates will have a track record of publishing in top-tier AI/ML venues (e.g., NeurIPS/ICML/ICLR/CVPR/EMNLP), along with venues specific to their empirical sub-field of choice. Applied AI faculty at Booth are expected to continue publishing in top-tier AI/ML venues and teach AI-related courses at the MBA level.
The candidate must have obtained, or expect to obtain shortly, a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in an area relevant to AI—including but not limited to Machine Learning (and related areas in Computer Science), Statistics, Economics, or any Business-related discipline. Relevant industry experience would be considered a valuable part of a candidate's portfolio.
