Position Summary:

The Department of Psychology and Counseling at Arkansas State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology. Preferred expertise in Coding & Data Driven Research, but we will also consider other areas of expertise depending on evolving needs of the department. Position to begin August 2027.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teaching responsibilities may include classes such as statistics and research methods. Depending on the background and interest of the candidate, other courses within our curriculum will also be available (e.g., Developmental, Cognitive, Social, etc.). We also welcome the development of new classes within the coding and data theme as well as new classes in the candidate’s specific specialty area. Faculty have the opportunity to work with and mentor students as part of their research labs.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Approximately 8 faculty are in the core undergraduate BS Psychology degree program, and there are many opportunities for collaboration within the program with faculty who have a wide range of specializations.

The department also houses counseling and school psychology programs, and cross-program collaboration often takes place.

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field is required. Candidates who are advanced ABDs will be considered at the rank of instructor until the dissertation is defended.
