    About ARU Police Education:

ARU are partnered with The Metropolitan Police and the Seven Police Forces in the Eastern Region – Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk and Suffolk – to train the Police Officers of the future. We are delivering two of the new Police Constable Entry Routes (PCER) programmes: the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) developed by the College of Policing.

This is a chance to be involved in shaping the Police Officers of the future and become part of an industry-leading team.

The PCER programmes aim to further professionalise policing as a career by both recognising and raising educational standards. New Police Constables will enrol with us on a three-year Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), which combines a degree programme with on-the-job training, while a two-year Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) will be available for new recruits who already have a degree. We deliver these programmes at our Police partners' training facilities alongside our police colleagues, and also at our dedicated Police Education facility in London.

    About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Instructor to deliver police education (lectures, seminars, tutorials, etc.) and support the Senior and Principal Instructors with programme review and development.

This post will be located at our East London campus. You will work alongside ARU staff and police training colleagues at this location.

Our Instructors will need the minimum of a degree or equivalent professional experience, and a demonstrable willingness to work towards a higher qualification (e.g. PGCert). Experience of teaching in higher education would be welcome. Please note that extensive knowledge of policing practice is essential if you do not have a degree.

Please note, background checks will be conducted on all applicants and will include successful clearance from the College of Policing barring list. Successful candidates will also require Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) level 2 (Full) clearance as you will have unsupervised access to police premises.

The ability to travel between police establishments and ARU campuses is required for roles within the ARU Police Education programmes.

Salary range: £40,724- £46,603 (inclusive of £2,725 market supplement) pro rata

Candidates should contact Claire Bacon, Principal Instructor, at [email protected] for an informal discussion.

We value diversity at ARU Direct and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of our staff and students and expect all staff to share this commitment.

Committed to being inclusive and open to discuss flexible working.

We have a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.

In accordance with the UK Government's immigration points-based system, this post does not meet the characteristics of a skilled job including salary criteria to be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy once we have received sufficient applications.
