About the role

You will assist with administrative tasks within your specific department to enable the smooth running of day to day operations. You will learn to provide support in a wide range of specialist and/or generalist administration areas, depending on the department you work with and this will be described further in the relevant job description for the role.

These roles provide an excellent opportunity for an individual who wants to gain a broad range of administration skills with the ability to work at a fast pace within a successful team.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide general or specialist administrative support to a business support department or area of education
  • Undertake operational support activities
  • Communicate by telephone, email, and face-to-face to deal withy enquiries in a helpful and professional manner
  • Gain experience in dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Contribute to the successful completion of a variety of projects including events and systems improvement processes
  • Develop team-working skills and the ability to manage a wide and varied set of tasks
  • Gain an understanding of the University policies and procedures relevant to the role
  • Prepare reports, documentation and maintain up-to-date records
  • Participate in and support the public engagement activities of the department

    About the apprenticeship

    As an Apprentice Business Administrator, you will undertake an apprenticeship with Abingdon and Witney College, where you will complete a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship.

    For this apprenticeship, you will work within a department at the University of Oxford, in central Oxford or Headington. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to spend at least 20% of your working hours training or studying, which will include regular attendance at Abingdon and Witney College.

    In total, it will take 18-24 months to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

    To complete the level 3 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A-C in GCSE Maths and English. To help check that you have the potential to successful complete your apprenticeship, Abingdon and Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.

As part of the recruitment process, shortlisted candidates will be contacted directly by the Apprenticeship Training Provider and will be required to provide an up-to-date CV. You will be booked onto a short eligibility assessment telephone call where you can also find out more about the apprenticeship and ask any questions you may have. By applying for this vacancy, you are giving the Training Provider permission to undertake a Learner Record Service check on your previous qualifications.
