Are you a philosopher of science with the ability to contribute to research- led teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels? Do you have teaching experience in philosophy at university level in the area of analytic theoretical philosophy and a strong commitment to personal excellence in teaching?

If so, the Department of Philosophy is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Philosophy (for a fixed term of one year) to be an inspiring teacher and to contribute to the research project, ‘EBL+: New philosophical foundations for evidence-based law'', funded by the Leverhulme Trust and led by Professor Jon Williamson.

As Lecturer in Philosophy you will:

  • provide an outstanding and sustained contribution to the research profile of the project by undertaking research of international calibre
  • teach and convene existing undergraduate and postgraduate modules, as required by the Course Leads
  • engage in attracting research grants and other funding to assist in the further development of the research project
  • undertake module and programme administration and examining
  • As Lecturer in Philosophy you will have:

  • a PhD or equivalent in Philosophy (successful viva at time of interview)
  • a record of international excellence in research and publication
  • the ability to initiate and organise research activities in philosophy and to contribute effectively to the Centre for Reasoning
  • a record of presenting research papers at national and international conferences
  • Interviews are expected to take place: 14 March 2024
