In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient) and staff across all disciplines and primarily within the Addictions Recovery and Healthcare for the Homeless teams, the psychiatrist is responsible for providing direct and appropriate mental health care to adults with mental illness and co-occurring disorders (substance abuse, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and medical illness) within the CommUnityCare system. As a member of the clinical team, psychiatrists provide direct care to referred patients via face-to-face visits or telehealth, which includes video visits. The psychiatrist may be asked to supervise advanced practice providers working in mental health in accordance with Texas Medical Board regulation and CommUnityCare Policy.

The department has a strong commitment to leading efforts to expand delivery of evidence based, innovative mental health services within the community. There will be significant opportunities for the candidate to The successful candidate's appointment within the department requires regular participation in educational activities with medical students and residents. In addition, the psychiatrist will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing development of training programs and collaborations that allow for the pursuit of innovative clinical programming and research initiatives.
