The Admissions Office is at the heart of the student recruitment journey, playing a key role in the achievement of the University's objectives through the delivery of a fair, efficient and transparent admissions process that enables equitable access for those students with the potential to succeed at Oxford Brookes.

You'll be joining a highly motivated and friendly team. We split our time flexibly between working from home and working in our open plan office and we enjoy regular all team ‘away' days and socials.

As one of the largest employers in Oxford, we pride ourselves in the great experience we offer our staff. You'll be joining a friendly, professional environment where every member of staff is recognised as important to the success of Oxford Brookes University. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Admissions Operations Team within our Marketing, Recruitment and Engagement directorate.

This is a full time, fixed term post for 12 months.

Overall Purpose of the post of Admissions Officer

Admissions Officers deliver timely and accurate processing of admissions decisions across the full range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses. Assessment of applications is informed by professional knowledge of qualifications and an understanding of relevant assessment frameworks relating to an applicant's academic, experiential and contextual background. As part of the wider Admissions Operations team you will contribute to delivering high levels of customer service for applicants, colleagues and partner organisations.

Qualifications and Experience for the post of Admissions Officer

You'll have experience of the UK higher education admissions process, including a good understanding of the principles of fair admissions. We'll work with you to develop your professional knowledge of global qualifications, as well as the ability to understand the applicant's broader academic and contextual background.

Application process

As part of the application process, we ask that all candidates submit a covering letter and a CV. Please make sure to provide examples of how your skills and experience align with the selection criteria outlined in the Person Specification table. Once you have completed this, please upload your covering letter and CV as part of your application.

At Oxford Brookes, inclusivity is one of our five guiding principles: we take positive steps to create an environment in which we celebrate, value and provide equal opportunity to all. We are committed to recruiting from the widest possible pool and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who embrace our values, regardless of their background. As a Disability Confident Employer we guarantee to interview any disabled applicant who meets the essential selection criteria.

We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job, but we realise the 'perfect candidate' doesn't exist. So, if you are looking to join a leading modern institution with ambition for student recruitment growth we'd love to hear from you.

Flexible working:

We support a work-life balance for all staff, including career breaks, job sharing, flexible hours, etc. The team is based in our recently refurbished offices on our Headington Campus, joining other colleagues who work approximately two days a week in the office and the remainder at home. The agile workspace is designed to offer various styles of working, such as collaborative spaces, hybrid meeting spaces, individual workstations and a more relaxed setting of comfy sofas.

As an Admissions Officer you will also enjoy the benefits of working at Oxford Brookes University with up to 38 days holiday, rising to 41 days holiday (this includes 13 Bank Holidays and Concessionary Days), a generous Local Government pension scheme, cycle to work scheme and access to a variety of university facilities (NHS Dentist, Brookes Nursery, Gym and sports facilities). For more information about benefits please see the document “All about Brookes” and the “Candidate pack'.

This role will not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the points based immigration system, however applications are welcome from candidates who don't currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a visa via another route.
