  • About the Role As an Admissions Manager, you'll lead a dynamic team and oversee the assessment of applications from both international and domestic candidates, ensuring compliance with established guidelines. A key aspect of this role is fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement within your team. While your primary focus will be on the Graduate team, your flexibility will be paramount as you may be called upon to manage other teams within Admissions as needed. We're seeking an individual with a solid background in admissions and transferable management skills to lead our team effectively. As a member of the Admissions leadership team, you'll collaborate closely with other departments to achieve our enrollment targets.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading our team to manage all tasks in the designated portfolio within agreed timelines.
  • Motivating, coaching, and managing staff to meet goals. Setting clear performance expectations, offering regular feedback, and documenting outcomes.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients, applicants, and University of Melbourne representatives effectively.
  • Contributing to improving the student experience by identifying opportunities for enhancement and making recommendations.
  • Ensuring efficient management of admissions processes to maximise conversion of high-quality applicants.

We're seeking a seasoned professional with a proven track record in team leadership and fostering collaborative work environments. You'll have demonstrated experience in developing and executing operational plans, aligning organizational strategies, and adeptly managing resource allocations. We value individuals who excel in problem-solving and continuously strive for process improvement. You will utilise your exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders. Previous experience in admissions and selection processes within higher education is highly valued.

    You will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • A minimum of two years' leadership experience including developing and delivering operational plans, aligning organisational strategies, and people management.
  • High-level interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships and influence optimal outcomes for the University and students.
  • Knowledge of the application of admissions and selection policy and procedures within the higher education sector.
  • Knowledge of international qualifications and education systems.
  • Experience with relevant higher education systems and programs and the ability to swiftly learn and adapt to new processes within higher education admissions.

    This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to- date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
