The Department of Environment and Geography is seeking an Administrative Programme Coordinator. The successful candidate will be part of a supportive and community-oriented department that has a strong commitment to upholding our core values (embracing diversity, making a positive difference, environmental sustainability, being friendly and helpful, and always learning). Our department is highly integrated within an exciting array of environmental sustainability endeavours at our university, such as the Environmental Sustainability Academy at York and the Stockholm Environmental Institute (York), providing many opportunities for interdisciplinary working and networking across the university and beyond. The department is proud to hold an Athena Swan Silver Award.

    Role

The Botstiber Institute for Wildlife Fertility Control (BIWFC) was established in 2016, with the main aim to provide science-based information about the use of fertility control to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts and to promote coexistence worldwide. The Europe office was established in 2021, in recognition that human-wildlife interactions are quickly growing in this region more than elsewhere. As the work of the Europe office expands, the main role of the programme coordinator will be to contribute to fulfil the general mission, purpose, and goals of the Institute in the areas described below. Working with the BIWFC headquarters (HQ) the programme coordinator will update website, mailing list and information materials, support strategies to achieve the Institute's mission, and play an active role in the organisation of conferences, webinars, workshops, and public education programs.

This post is available at 0.4 FTE on a fixed-term contract. Please note that flexible working patterns and job sharing opportunities will be considered.

    Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed

  • An interest in wildlife fertility control and a willingness to expand knowledge in this area

  • Taking responsibility for delivering defined work initiatives

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Use of digital technologies relevant to the role
