Your new role

The University Events team is seeking an Administrative Officer to join their dynamic and high-performing team in delivering a variety of Curtin events. The University Events team have been responsible for delivering fantastic events including the VC's Professional Staff Excellence awards, Teaching and Learning awards, International Women's Day, Curtinnovation Awards, John Curtin Gallery events and much more.

In this role you will be a core team member, working collaboratively to facilitate the delivery of day-to-day administrative activities and special projects to support the University Events team's operational and strategic outcomes.

This role is part time, 6 month fixed term contract with a commitment of 16 hours per week (0.4 FTE), offering flexible hours and adaptable working arrangements.

In this role, you will:

  • Implement and maintain efficient administrative processes and practices.
  • Act as a first point of contact and support the University Events team functions.
  • Provide coordination and operations support to the team including but not limited to sourcing/booking venues, catering, suppliers, and promotional activities.
  • Participate in relevant events, including the provision of back up support for other members of the Events team at every opportunity.
  • Maintain a comprehensive electronic events calendar in MS teams for properties/campus wide awareness.
  • We are looking for (the ideal candidate):

  • Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities with high attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and demonstrate cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Previous experience working in a university environment (desired).
  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
