Applications are invited for a part-time Administrative Assistant who will work closely with the Group Administrator to provide efficient and effective support to the Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology (CCGE) in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care (DPHPC).
The CCGE carries out research into inherited susceptibility to common cancers. It conducts significant large-scale analyses both within the Centre and as part of ongoing national and international collaborations. It currently comprises around 50 staff, including Research Group Leaders, Postdoctoral Researchers, Data Managers, Laboratory Staff and Postgraduate Students.
You will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Research Group Leaders (including the Director of the Centre). This is a varied and busy role, undertaking a broad range of tasks such as diary management, arranging meetings and travel, maintenance of a database of publications, raising purchase requisitions and the managing of expense claims. You will liaise with colleagues withing the DPHPC and across the wider University as well as international collaborators.
You will have previous experience of working in an administrative role, as well as working effectively within a small team, with strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload and to work independently, along with excellent communication skills. You will be competent in standard Windows software packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience in working in a University administration environment would be an advantage.
This appointment is part-time (minimum of 21 hours per week), working days to be agreed with the Group Administrator.
The funding for this post is available until 31st August 2025.
