  • Position Summary:

    The UAS Sitka Campus invites applications from qualified individuals interested in helping students attain their educational goals. Instruction method will be either online or face-to-face, or a combination of both.

    Duties:

    Teach one or more courses consistent with UAS student learning outcomes and assessment methods. Design curriculum, prepare syllabus and lesson plans. Evaluate student learning and provide timely feedback to students. Hold office hours or be available for contact with students.Essential

    We are looking to increase our adjunct faculty pool in the following subject areas:

    Biology / Physics

    Health Sciences

    English / Communications

    Art / Music

    Other General Education content areas

    Applied Fisheries / Oceanography

    Northwest Coast Art / NWC Language

    Engine Repair / Welding

    Applications will be reviewed continuously throughout AY22/23 for possible teaching assignments beginning July 2022.

    Adjunct positions are on a semester-by-semester contract basis, and governed by a collective bargaining agreement.

    Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of a contract, though qualified applicants will be held in the pool for multiple semesters in the chance that a need for instructors in their subject area may arise.

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    Applicants will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students.

    TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

    Expertise and experience relevant to the effective teaching of the subject area to college students.

    At least one year of college instruction, preferably within the subject area, is strongly preferred, but applicants with no formal college-level teaching experience will be considered.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

    Depending on the subject area, certification, Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
