Adjunct Faculty - Engineering & Computing

Greenville University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach on campus courses in programming, electrical circuits, and circuits laboratory. Adjunct faculty at GU are educators and mentors who invest deeply in students’ academic, professional, and spiritual development. This position supports Greenville’s mission by providing hands on, Christ centered instruction that prepares students for lives of character, service, and calling.

Courses may include Introduction to Programming, Electrical Circuits, and Electrical Circuits Lab depending on qualifications and departmental needs.

Courses Included

Introduction to Programming (On Campus)

Students learn algorithms, data types, control structures, functions, arrays, file handling, debugging, and problem solving using Python or C++. Instruction includes lectures, demonstrations, guided practice, and in class coding activities.

Electrical Circuits (Lecture)

Covers DC and AC circuit analysis, Kirchhoff’s Laws, network theorems, transient and steady state responses, phasors, AC power, polyphase circuits, frequency response, and introductory simulation. Delivered through in person lectures, problem solving sessions, and collaborative learning.

Electrical Circuits Lab (In Person)

Hands on laboratory supporting the Electrical Circuits lecture. Students build and analyze circuits, use instrumentation, apply simulation tools, and connect theory to practice. Emphasis is placed on safety, measurement techniques, and engineering professionalism.

Primary Responsibilities

On Campus Teaching & Instruction

• Deliver engaging, student centered instruction aligned with course outcomes and GU’s mission.
• Prepare lectures, demonstrations, lab activities, and learning materials.
• Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate grade records.
• Integrate faith and learning where appropriate, modeling Christian character and professional integrity.

Laboratory Leadership (for Circuits Lab)

• Set up, maintain, and safely operate lab equipment and instrumentation.
• Guide students through hands on experiments and circuit analysis.
• Reinforce safety protocols and proper use of tools and measurement devices.
• Collaborate with faculty and lab staff to ensure smooth lab operations.

Student Mentorship & Support

• Hold regular office hours and provide in person academic support.
• Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
• Encourage students in their academic, professional, and personal growth.

Collaboration & Professionalism

• Communicate effectively with the department chair and course coordinators.
• Participate in required training, orientation, or assessment activities.
• Uphold institutional policies, academic integrity, and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of programming (Python or C++) and/or electrical circuit theory.
• Experience teaching or training in academic or professional settings.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Commitment to Greenville University’s mission, Christian values, and student mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in a related discipline.
• College level teaching experience, especially in engineering or computing.
• Experience with circuit simulation tools (e.g., Multisim, MATLAB).
• Experience teaching or developing laboratory courses.
• Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) or other high impact practices.
• Industry experience in electrical engineering, embedded systems, or software development.
• Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners.

Regular Undergraduate Adjunct rate with class enrollment of 10 or more per credit hour is $1000. This rate is subject to change based on enrollment numbers for the course.
