We are looking for an Academic Officer to support the Merino Group's research at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) to start on April 1, 2024, or after agreement.

Our research The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research's vision is to pioneer groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. We wish to lead collaborative interdisciplinary research from single-cell genomics to whole-body systems, transforming the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health, and accelerating its translation into prevention and treatment strategies. We were established in 2010, and in 2017, we moved into new laboratories, offices, and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower www. maersktower.ku.dk.

The Center has around 260 employees who work in an international, highly collaborative research environment across a range of biomedical disciplines. You can read more about us here: www. cbmr.ku.dk.

Our group and research The Merino Group investigates how molecular and environmental factors modulate variable metabolic responses to therapeutic interventions and shape food choice behavior. The group aims to generate actionable knowledge to inform more effective obesity and diabetes prevention and treatment strategies. You can read more about the Merino Group here.

Your job tasks will include:

  • Assisting researchers with their bioinformatics analyses
  • Documenting, downloading, and organizing external data
  • Assisting in reviewing the literature for relevant projects
  • Preparing and uploading data and scripts to public databases
  • Essential criteria for the position:

  • Good organizational skills and capacity for time management
  • Capacity to work in teams of multidisciplinary professionals
  • Knowledge of R/Python scripting
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Previous experience with genetic data manipulation will be an asset
  • Place of employment The place of employment is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.     Terms of salary and employment The employment as Academic Officer is a 15-month position. The working hours are 15 hours pr. week. The expected starting date is April 1, 2024, or after agreement.

    Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
