Background of the recruitment and description of the project Background of the recruitment and description of the project The Yamagishi Laboratory, Content Science Research Division, National Institute of Informatics, conducts basic research on speech generation AI, speech security and privacy. In addition to presenting research results at top conferences, they also focus on social implementation. Representative projects that the laboratory has worked on include the French-Japanese CREST project (running from FY 2018 to FY 2023); representative speech databases built for AI model training are the VCTK and ASVspoof databases. A representative social implementation is the development of the deepfake detection program "Synthetiq Vision".

Work content and job description The selected candidate will work on the JST AIP Acceleration Project, "Acceleration and Dissemination of Social Implementation of Fake Media Detection Technology" (April 2024 - March 2026) in collaboration with members of the Yamagishi Laboratory and Echizen Laboratory of the National Institute of Informatics.

In the above project, to combat the problem of deepfakes that misuse generative models of speech and faces, the selected candidate is expected to research advanced audio and multimedia deepfake detection techniques and/or new machine-learning methods to follow emerging unknown deepfakes automatically. Candidates should, therefore, have sufficient experience and program implementation skills in speech information processing, deep learning, machine learning, AI security, and other related technologies.
