About the RoleThis position is a full-time position working 35 hours per week.
The role involves providing comprehensive academic advising and support to Nursing students, from onboarding to graduation. Key responsibilities include guiding course registration, monitoring academic progress, counseling students on academic and personal challenges, interpreting policies, and resolving unique student situations. Additionally, the role oversees scheduling, collaborates with faculty and administration, coordinates clinical placements, and promotes research opportunities. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential to support student success and ensure program efficiency.
ResponsibilitiesStudent Onboarding & Advising: Guide new students in understanding advising tools, academic policies, and program requirements.
Course Registration Support: Assist students with course selection, scheduling, registration, clinical placements, and appeals.
Academic Progress Monitoring: Track student registration, retention, progression, and proactively reach out to those needing support.
Counseling & Intervention: Provide academic and personal counseling, referring to services and resolving unique issues like overrides or transfer credits.
Program Administration: Confirm course enrollments, plan annual class schedules, and manage semester scheduling updates in collaboration with leadership.
Communication & Collaboration: Act as a liaison between students, faculty, and administration to ensure seamless program delivery.
Policy Interpretation: Disseminate institutional and program-specific regulations to students, faculty, and staff.
Event & Resource Management: Develop advising materials, support campus events, and oversee processes like clinical placements and final exam scheduling.
Operational Coordination: Work with internal departments to align course offerings, room bookings, and clinical assignments with program needs.
Research Promotion: Support faculty research by marketing student opportunities and surveys.
Three or four year BA/BSc or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience in an educational environment with advising experience and/or an understanding of academic requirements
Ability to have difficult conversations and manage expectations
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Administrative and organizational skills
