AASC Recreation/Special Event Attendant - UAA Student Position

The UAA Department of Recreation, located in the AVIS Alaska Sports Complex, is a diverse division designed to assist students in providing the opportunity for physical development on the Anchorage campus. Come join our team!

100Ensure that all patrons using the AVIS Alaska Sports Complex (AASC) and/or Alaska Airlines Center (AAC) facilities have proof of admission. Must enforce all AASC and AAC policies and regulations to ensure that all activities within the area are conducted in a safe and orderly manner. Set up and take down equipment as needed for recreational activities. Set up and take down equipment required for special events held within the AASC (i.e., tables, chairs, floor cover, etc.). During events this position will provide crowd control and after events will clean up and take down event equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, and AASC Director.Essential

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to lift and carry objects of moderate weight with or without reasonable accommodations. Ability to work independently. Customer service skills.

Preferred Experience & Education:

No prior experience is required for this position.

Required Experience & Education:

Required: UA Safe Title IX completed training or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.

Behavior Based Safety (BBS) completed training or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.

Workplace Harassment Prevention completed training or completion of training within 30 days of the job start date.

To be eligible for student employment at UAA, a student must: a. be enrolled in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or b. for employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and c. not work hours which interfere with class attendance; and d. have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

Preferred: AED, CPR and First Aid certification

Salary Information:

Student Assistant 2 - $11.34/hour

This is a student position and is restricted to no more than 20 hours per week while taking classes. Students may work between semesters if they successfully completed six credits or more the previous semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester. Students working in between semesters may be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week.
