About the role

Description

The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work periodically appoints non‑tenure‑track, professional‑track faculty to teach undergraduate and graduate social work courses. Appointments may be part‑time or full‑time, depending on instructional needs and course load. While no positions are currently available, the School maintains an active pool of qualified applicants for temporary, part‑time instructional opportunities as they arise.

Individuals selected from this pool may be assigned to teach lower‑ or upper‑division undergraduate courses, as well as graduate courses offered during daytime and/or evening hours. Appointments are typically made on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Renewal is contingent upon departmental need, available funding, and demonstrated successful performance.

Qualifications

Qualifications must be commensurate with rank and include an outstanding academic record. A master's degree in social work or a related field is required; a minimum of two years of post‑graduate professional experience is preferred.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to collaborate with other faculty.

Application Instructions

Required Application Materials:

  • Current curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Cover letter that includes information about the courses or topics you are qualified to teach
  • Names and contact information for three references who can speak to your effectiveness as an instructor and/or your expertise in the relevant subject area
  • Applications will be accepted throughout the academic year. Please do not submit additional supporting materials unless requested.
