Position Overview

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Department of Music is seeking an Adjunct Professor to teach all percussion instruments to all undergraduate students. The candidate will teach applied Fundamentals of Music 1301 and Music 1305.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The music program offers a broad range of learning experiences inside and outside the classroom to diverse students. Our music curriculum prepares students to meet opportunities in an evolving global marketplace critically, creatively, and/or artistically. Program completion will lead to careers as well as advanced studies in music and/or other disciplines.

Minimum Experience/Education

Master's Degree or higher in Music Education or a related field, from an accredited institution. The candidate must have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in Music Education or a related field.

The Music Department also provides instruction in music to students majoring in other disciplines as part of the university's general education requirements and in an effort to promote the study and enjoyment of music as necessary for healthy and enriched living. Instruction is provided by faculty committed to teaching effectiveness, scholarship, and service toward the enhancement of the artistic and cultural life of the university and the greater community.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Doctorate Degree in Music Education or a related field. Evidence of 2 years or more of successful teaching experience at the university level. An outstanding performer on all percussion instruments.

The candidate must have the ability to teach undergraduate applied music majors and all interested students. The candidate must also be able to teach an introductory-level music theory course, Fundamentals of Music. This position will require the timely submission of mid-term grades, final grades, as well as student learning outcome assessment data.
