Information on the department can be found at: https: // www. sund.ku.dk/.

Job description When considering applications for the professorship/associate professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of porcine health management.

The overall responsibility of the professorship/associate professorship is to conduct research on disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment in pig herds and research-based teaching within the same subject. This includes research on clinical and laboratory diagnostic methods, evidence-based prevention and treatment of infectious and non-infectious diseases in pigs. Evidence-based disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment may guide prudent use of antibiotics in pig herds and thereby reduce the public health risk associated with antibiotic resistance.

The professor/associate professor is expected to cooperate with other research groups at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science hereunder the activities related to research based consultancy for the veterinary public service agreement.

The promotion programme The University of Copenhagen offers particularly talented associate professors the possibility to enter into a promotion programme that can lead to employment as a professor. To be employed as an associate professor on the promotion programme, the candidate must both qualify to work as an associate professor now and demonstrate the potential to transition into a position as a professor at the end of the programme. Both will be assessed based on the university's criteria for merit (See more below).

An associate professor will usually be on the promotion programme for a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 8 years. During the programme, there will be annual interviews with the head of department to assess whether the associate professor is ‘on track'. The programme ends with a final assessment before transitioning to a professorship.
